Ralph James Carney, 53, died Wednesday, January 7, 2015. Born January 25, 1961, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of George James and Geraldine Smith Carney of Waynesboro, VA, and husband of Lourdes Jardiolin Carney. A veteran of the U. S. Army, Mr. Carney achieved the rank of Captain. He was a graduate of Pfeiffer College in North Carolina where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and Economics. He worked as a web development manager with Grace Management of Spartanburg and most recently was employed as a senior web developer with Super Duper Publications in Greenville. He was selflessly and sacrificially devoted to his family, his faith, and friends. An avid historian and prolific reader, Ralph was also a great chef, tennis player, and loved working out with his son. He was a lifelong supporter of the Boston Red Sox in addition to the New York Giants. In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by a daughter, Trisha Carney; a son, Jimmy Carney; a sister, Carolyn Carney Herring; aunts, Virginia Carney Gould, Susanne Dickey, and Sandra Caracia; nephew, Scott Herring; niece, Amelia Herring; cousins, Susan Gould Rehe, Steven Norman Carney, Karen Dickey McCormick, Marilyn Caracia Simon, Mark Dickey, David Dickey, Michael Caracia, Robert Caracia, and Stephen Caracia; mother-in-law, Dolores Benedicto Jardiolin; sisters-in-law, Cecilia Jardiolin Anderson, Rita Jardiolin-Houghton, and Claudette Jardiolin Vitug; and an uncle, Curtis Smith. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 AM Friday, January 16, 2015, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 290 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, by the Rev. Timothy M. Gahan. Burial with military rites will follow at 2:00 PM in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd., Columbia, SC 29229. Flowers will be gratefully accepted. Floyd's North Church Street Chapel
