Bradley's Funeral Home & Crematory - Marion Obituary

Marion, VA

Ralph Carson Scott age 86 of Marion, VA, passed away on November 23, 2017.

He was born on March 2, 1931 and married the love of his life, Elsie, on June 5, 1955. He is survived by his wife Elsie; by his son Carson Scott of Abingdon; daughter & son-in-law Lisa & Mike Whitwell of Chactaw, OK.

Ralph enjoyed life, friends, and work to the fullest extent. He never met a stranger whether it was through his tenure as a Marine in the Korean War, or work at Southern States Co-op, carrying mail as Rural Letter Carrier, or the numerous trips to go and get groceries. He was also an active member of Marion Baptist Church and the Marion Masonic Lodge No.31 AF&AM

If asked, Ralph would have told that he tackled Parkinson's with tenacity, courage and grace for the purpose of seeing his grandchildren Sadie and Sam graduate from college.

He had friends and acquaintances that helped with his battle with Parkinson’s.  Each act of kindness is appreciated by his family.

A celebration of life is planned for a later date. Memorials may be made to the Marine Corp Toys for Tots Foundation or the Marion Baptist Church Youth Group. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com. Bradley’s Funeral Home of Marion is serving the Scott Family.

Elsie, Lisa and Carson,
Ralph was a great help to our family as we farmed next door to each other. He and my Dad would regularly talk with one another - keeping each other informed. I have fond memories of his laugh and smile.
Blessings as you adjust to this big loss for your family.

Elsie and family,
We are so sorry for your loss, and saddened for all of you. We have so many fond memories of Ralph, and good times with you all. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Momma Elsie, Lisa and Carson,

I was sadden to learn of Daddy Ralph's passing when Carson called.

I will miss picking at him, him picking back at me, his sour dough biscuits, aggravating him about his turtle shell, writing him notes on the dry erase board, talking with him and making him think there was a problem with his hearing implant, letting me take all the blame for years for the hooking the brake to the horn at Lisa's wedding and just making him laugh! Then...
