Not sure what to say?

Rip, Our 50th Hill School Class Reunion is this coming June and our Class Headquarters will be The New Davy Dorm. The dorm in your honor is our Class of 1975 gift. So you will be in our thoughts the entire weekend. All of your classmates miss you and wish you could have attended with us. Continue to rest in peace. Very Sadly, ........Fred / Palm City, Florida.

Rip, I still miss you and the many good times we had together- particularly golfing and skiing!

Rip was a terrific guy loved by everyone who knew him. I still love his family and wish we could bring him back. I can't believe he's been gone so long. Lots of the time I spent with he and his wife Margo are special memories for me, particularly a few ski trips. Each one was enhanced by his great sense of humor and terrific smile. I think of those times often and hope they never go away.

Hard to believe it has been so long since Rip died. He was one of a kind: decent to all -- repeat: all; an optimist; a fair but fierce competitor; and an All-America in all respects: as athlete and as a good man.

Margo and the boys: Rip and I were childhood friends who went to elementary school together. We used to sneak onto Cobbs Creek Golf Course to play some of our earliest competitive rounds of golf at age 9. Having not seen each other in recent years, we had communicated and promised each other some renewed rounds. He was a wonderful man who touched and inspired many of us throughout his life with his generosity and warm spirit.

One evening this last week I happened to be in a "sentimental", reminising mood and set off on "googling" a number of people that were very special to me as I was growing up. The news of Rip's passing was truly heart breaking and I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

Although I only briefly knew and met Rip a few times when I attended Linden Hall, a girls boarding school in PA (graduated in 1975), I can attest as do all the other lovely entries in his...

Margo-

Yesterday was the first I heard of Rip's passing and my heart goes out to you and the family. While playing at Westchester in the member member tournament, which Rip and I played in a number of times, I happended to mention Rip's name to John Kennedy who passed along the information.

Fortunately I had the chance to play a bunch of rounds with Rip and it was always such a great experience due to Rip's competitiveness on the course but mostly because of his ability to make...

Graduated with Rip from The Hill School in '75. He was always one of the most special people I ever met. In a social system divided up between the Jocks, Geeks and Freaks (myself included), Rip was always a friend to all. I just wanted to express my sorrow to the family. Praying for you.

I lived my UNC freshman year in Carr dormitory down the hall from Rip. I remember Rip being such a special person with a warmth that endeared him to everyone. After not seeing him since college, I ran into him at an alumni function in New York City in 2002. It felt so good reconnecting with Rip after all those years. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family.
