Ralph Gage was a newspaper man of the first order -- principled, smart steely-willed and visionary. It was an honor to know him. I am so sorry to hear of his passing.

My sincere condolences to Ralph's family. I have many memories of Ralph during my time as a cub reporter on the Journal World in the 1970s. He was a demanding editor who taught me a lot about good reporting and writing that served me well during the rest of my career. He was one of the best.

Dear Martha, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. You must be so proud of all Ralph's accomplishments! He definitely left a great legacy and he will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Sincerely, Margie Wolfe

I´m so very sorry for you loss. Ralph was a neighbor and friend in Ottawa. I will be seeing him in heaven!

At my first daily newspaper job in 1968 in East St. Louis, IL, Ralph was tasked with mentoring me, so I understand why the Kansas Press Assn. awarded him its Outstanding Mentor Award in 2009. Ralph helped build the foundation of my career and I´ve thought of him over the years when facing tough deadlines and stories that seemed hard to get into print. My sincerest condolences to the family.

So sorry to hear of your family loss. Truly a life lived to be proud of.

My deepest sympathy to his family and all that loved him. You are in my thoughts.
