This man was terrific! While aboard the Spear we often saw him in the wee hours of the morning on the dock checking lines. He would roam after hours and visit various departments speaking with everyone with a keen genuine interest in them professionally and personally. Sorry to hear about the passing of Admiral Ghormley, I had a very brief history with the Admiral.

I was Admiral Ghormley's personal driver for three days during his visit to NAVCOMMSTA Puerto Rico. I think it was sometime around 1979. I recall Admiral Ghormley was a very kind man.
