Ralph Orton Glendinning

I did not know Ralph personally, but he is married to my cousin (Mildred to me,but Ann to Ralph and friends). I am grateful to Ralph and Mildred because of the way they helped my mother and sister Rhonda. Being retired Navy myself, I was able to tell him on the phone that he and all the WWII vets were all heros because of their service and sacrifice to our country during that war. Ralph is now in the arms of God with his fellow marines who left before he did.

Jane and I knew Ralph and Molly from Connecticut and Great Harbor when he asked me to join the Company for a Special Project. Upon completion I stayed on. We enjoyed many great travels together. Played lots of golf and was on hand in England when Mario Andretti won the World Grand Prix Formular I for our Clients team. I was instramental in their relocating to Lost Tree Village in N. Palm Beach. A great generous man.

I remember Ralph from Great Harbor Cay in the Bahamas. He was our neighbor for many years on Sugar Beach. There was a great group of friends from there that traveled for many years together playing golf. We spent a lot of time on the water fishing and looking for treasure. He was a good friend to my parents.

I first met Ralph on a World Cruise on Holland America. I have an interest in WW2 history particularly in the SW Pacific. Ralph would tell me about his time and experiences on the Bunker Hill in 1944. I understand he flew Corsairs and, as he related to me, he shot down a "betty" bomber. At the time of our meeting he presented me with a copy of "The Saga Of Marine Fighter Squadron VMF 221" I have read this book many times, in fact reading the book has...

My condolences to you and family, Ann. Ralph was an inspiration to me, but most of all, he made you, Ann, happy and secure, my dear friend. Your kindness and generosity as a couple knew no bounds and I am eternally grateful for that - may he rest in peace and your days be filled with wonderful memories, as mine are.

In mid-1962 I received a call at P&G asking if I would like to talk to Ralph about joining his new company as its 4th member. For the next 7 years I had the best learning experience of my life. Not only that but I had my eyes opened to the world and its many opportunities and challenges. Without that experience the rest of my life would have been very different from the varied and rewarding one my family and I have led.
