Not sure what to say?

I studied under Mr. Goings at La Sierra High School. I was so influenced by him and his work that after high school I went on to be an art major and studied at his alma mater, the California College of Arts and Crafts solely because of him. I ultimately became graphic designer and illustrator. He'll be missed.

An ARTIST, a gentleman, and a friend.

I studied with Mr. Goings in th late 70's at Munson Williams Proctor School of Art in Utica, NY. The painting pictured was requested years ago by the Monhegan Art Museum as part of their history of the 1976 BiCentennial, thanks to Ralph's influence on my work at the time.

As I continue to paint, I more fully appreciate what Ralph did in his work. I was fortunate enough to see two of his pieces at the Louis Meisel Gallery in New York. I held a painting and a watercolor and could look closely. He was an amazingly gifted man. I used to joke with him that he should live around the corner so we could have coffee and talk art once a week. I treasure the moments I did have with Ralph, even though they were few.

Love your work. Rest in Peace.

Ralph was a truly great artist and an even greater man. All of us at the Butler Institute of American Art offer our heartfelt sympathy to his family.

I met Ralph through my former husband who had built stretchers for him in Charlottesville, NY. This was such a thrill for an art history major. He was a friend and a kind man who had grace. His work speaks for itself, the hands of a master painter, sensitive realist images with sensuous surface. I'm grateful to have known him. My deepest sympathy to Shana and the family. Dona Syman

Shanna and family, I was fortunate enough to teach with Ralph at La Sierra HS. I can not even begin to tell you what a help he was to me. He has been very influential in my own work. He was one of my mentors. I will miss him as I sure your whole family will. Thanks for sharing him with me. He You

Rest in peace my friend.
