My condolences to the Houghton family--I have fond memories of "Mr. Houghton" as a charter member of Racine Elks Band and all of the fun and challenging activities he planned for us about 1949 or so. He made music participation come alive that left a permanent influence in adult life. I will never forget Mr Houghton.

There will never,ever be another Ralph Houghton (my sister, Bobbie, called him 'Pudge'). He and his wonderful family were intertwined with our family through the Racine Elks Band and beyond for many, many years. John and David were playmates and were at every family function. We saw Ralph and Jane last at our Dad's 90th Birthday party and could not believe how good-lookin' they both were and how happy we were to see them.

Ralph Houghton and his entire family hold such profound and wonderful memories for me. He ranks way up high on the list of people I have truly felt sincere fondness and love for. From the time I was a little girl doing Louie Armstrong impersonations and Hoola Hoop demonstrations for Ralph & Jane and all the many times our families spent together, to not all so long ago when I would run into Ralph on the tennis courts when my own son was having lessons.
