Funeral for Ralph T. Summerford, 88, of Hartselle will be Sunday, March 21, 2010, at 2:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Hartselle with Bro. Robert Sparkman, Bro. Bobby Ray Halbrooks and Bro. Harold Thompson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Herring Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Summerford, who died Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Brookwood Medical Center, was born Oct. 24, 1921, in Morgan County to James Jackson Summerford Jr. and Ella Tanner Summerford. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hartselle, where he was a member of the Haynes Sunday school class. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Ruby Morris Summerford; and a brother, Hugh Summerford.
Survivors include his wife, Orlean Summerford; two daughters, Linda Russell (Ray) and Charlotte Speake (Bob), both of Hartselle; three brothers, J.J. Summerford (Bobbie) of Hartselle, Louyn Summerford (Gloria) of Charlotte, N.C., and Jack Summerford (Barbara) of Danville; six sisters, Margaret Campbell of Littleton, Colo., Stella Brown (Glenn “Boots”) of Gardendale, Rachel Fowler of Birmingham, Nina Johnson (W.O.) and Willie Monroe (Ed), both of Hartselle, and Sandra Anglea (Jack) of Decatur; three grandchildren, Stacy Westbrook (Paul) of Hartselle, David Speake of Mobile and Lisa Speake of Birmingham; and a special great-granddaughter, Sarah Westbrook.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
