The Christian Benevolent Funeral Home, Inc., announces with the deepest sympathy the transition of Mr. Ralph J. Taylor III.


Mr. Ralph Joseph “Tincup” Taylor the son of the late Ralph H. Taylor Jr. and Veola LaLande Dillard departed this life on Friday, July 2, 2021. Mr. Taylor was a native of Mobile, AL. He graduated from Central High School, received his B.S. in physical education from Alabama State University, and M.Ed. in physical education from University of South Alabama. Mr. Taylor went on to a teaching and coaching career that spanned over 30 years and 19 years, respectively. He was also a football and baseball referee for over (50) years. Mr. Taylor was co-founder and chairman of the prestigious John L. Finley Award for fifty (50) years. During this time Mr. Taylor received numerous awards, most prestigiously, election to the Mobile Sports Hall of Fame in 2005.


He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife Pauline McKay Taylor, two sons Ralph J. Taylor IV (Pamela) of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Reginald K. Taylor (Denvie) of Theodore, AL., five grandchildren Ralph J. Taylor V, Jared P. Taylor, Jordan A. Taylor all of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Ryan K. Taylor of Lakewood, WA, and Luke S. Taylor of Theodore, AL, two sisters, Gwendolyn Crockett (Edward) Los Angeles, CA, Edrise Smith of Los Angeles, CA, one brother Dr. Juel R. Taylor (Erma) of Mobile, AL, three nieces Melinda Weathersby of Michelle Crockett-Burroughs both of Los Angeles, CA, Kristin T. Jackson (Kawan) of Atlanta, GA, three nephews Ronald Smith, Edward Crockett (Laura), Juel Taylor Jr. all of Los Angeles, CA, three sisters-in-law Rita Baker (Donald) of Lombard, IL, Mary Elizabeth Powe (Prince) of Fountain Valley, CA, and loving nieces and nephews Donna Powe, Marc Powe, Kyle Powe, Brennan Powe, Kedrick Powe, Roary Wilder, two devoted friends Willy Shipman and Paul Green, two devoted neighbors Mr. and Mrs. Michael Curry and Mr. and Mrs. George Langham and a host of other relatives and many friends.


He is preceded in death by his great aunt Edrise Thelma Taylor and a loving sister-in-law Martha McKay.
