Rama was one of my very first mentors. He had a major impact upon the person I was to become. I revere him and cherish the memories of my time with him. I took his Vedanta classes at the temple when I was 17. It left a lasting impression on me to this day. For a man at his age he still had all the knowledge one could ask for in a teacher and stayed well past closing time to answer questions. I have yet to encounter anyone with as deep a knowledge of Shankaracharya as he had or for that matter early Tibetan Buddhism. Heart felt condolences to the family. I have fond memories (over 3 decades) of numerous all night parties at his house - a bacchanalia of interesting people, music, philosophy and plenty of humor!! Rama was truly one of a kind, he will be greatly missed. Just one of the most brilliant and warmest people I'll ever know, I was fortunate enough to cultivate a friendship with Rama over the last decade of his life.
