Ramon Garza, Jr.

In the summer of 1981, fresh out of high school, I worked in maintenance at Montgomery Ward on F Street in Bakersfield. At 17, one of my tasks was painting the manager's offices. During the job, we accidentally spilled an entire bucket of paint on the carpet in Mr. Garza's office. To my surprise, he took it in stride. Fellow employees told me if you were going to make a mistake like that, Mr. Garza was the best person to do it to-always understanding and good-natured. I'll always remember him...
