Not sure what to say?

Rana was my mother Ellen's cousin and often referred to me as his niece. He was a witty and intelligent man who I always enjoyed talking to.

Much love from Ellen and Beckie Alexander.

Apologies for the late message,I only learned of Rana's death today.

Rana was my mother's cousin on the Bradley side and was highly respected within the wider family.

He always referred to me as his niece even though he was my second cousin and I always enjoyed talking to him. He was an intelligent, articulate man.

Fond memories from Ellen and Beckie Alexander (Wellington).

Was just thinking of you and my mum talking whakapapa and I remembered you naming people in the photos mum had.
I thought I would look you up and now feel sad I missed your passing and your Tangi.

much love from the whanau of Keita Hikawai

Very sorry to read just now of the passing of Rana. I enjoyed the many times I worked with Rana in the NZ Police. He was my boss for a number of years both in Uniform and CIB. My room mate on a section trip to Aussie that I believe would have been a first in the Police.

A man of great intellect and strength who will be a major loss to his family.

RIP Rana

My best friend, my totara, my papa.

Never a day will go pass that ur memories flood my heart.

Truly a great friend and mentor from Police days of many years ago.
A true Freemason whom I found to be an inspiration and of invaluable assistance in many respects and led me on the path that has assisted me in many aspects of Masonic Research and Education. Thank you Rana - Dearand true respected friend.

Rana and the other members of the "tight 5".

This photo of Rana and the other members of the "tight 5", was taken in 1996 on the steps of Parliament.

E te Rangatira Rana, taku hoa. Kua hinga koe. Moe mai, moe mai, i roto i te poho o te Atua. Haere atu ra, Rana, haere atu ra.

Very sad news that we of the famed “TIGHT 5” have lost our first member to the realm of the ever after. Rana, you set the standard for policing when you were the “Sheriff” of Tuaranga-nui-a-Kiwa in the 1990s. And you continued that ethic and those principles when we were in Parliament together.

So rest easy, my friend.
