Not sure what to say?

My heart goes out to you your family and friends. I flew air support from Marine base at Chu Lai and after we dropped our loads and headed back home to hot meals and a dry cot to sleep on I always felt a bit guilty because I knew that as soon as we left the Viet Cong would be right back at you. Just to clarify...Randy died in 1968 or 69. In memory this thoughtful obituary was created in 2018.

I met Randy the summer after 4th grade. We were in school together 5th grade through high school.
We roamed the woods near Arnold & Boones Ferry. We climbed trees, waded in Tryon Creek, got stung by bees and nettles catching crawdads and watching water skippers. We played baseball, went to school dances at Collins View and rode motorcycles. Summer nights we all slept in Dave Merrifield's tree house, built by Randy's grandpa. We laughed, joked and had fun.
Randy was always a great...

I can still see Randy's smile. He was so friendly to me even though I was 6 years younger and the little sister of his friend Ken(Rocky)Shumway-below. Pat, Sharon and Marla my heart and thoughts are with you. He was So proud to be a Marine.

I think about Randy quite often. We were both born in Portland, OR on the same day. We met in High School, and became good friends. We went through Boot Camp together. I truly miss him. I often wonder what would have become of him.

Randy was a year younger than me, but we had a a couple of mutual friends -- and were fellow Marines. And like Wayne below, I was on the Honor Guard at his service. I also found Randy's name on the "wall" in Beaverton at the Veteran's Memorial when it was completed. Sad to think of this.
