Randolph Audley Raynor, 74, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Atrium Health in Pineville, NC. Born in Cleveland County on December 1, 1948, he was the son of the late John Lemuel Raynor and Maxine Cabaniss Raynor. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Raynor and John Raynor, Jr.


Randy dedicated four years of faithful service to his country in the U.S. Air Force as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist. He was a lifelong member of Zion Baptist Church where he previously served as a Deacon, Sunday School Director and Teacher, Choir Member and Cub Scout Leader. Randy will be remembered for his love for church, time spent outdoors and most of all his love for his family.  


Randy is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda Anthony Raynor, daughter Annette Raynor Willcox (Justin) of Kernersville, NC, son Jason Raynor (Sharon) of Shelby, as well as, sister, Joanne Glandon of Maryland. Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren; Tyler Willcox of Arlington, VA, Aly Willcox of Raleigh, NC, Lydia, Austin and Lacey Raynor, all of Shelby. 


A funeral service with military honors will be held 2:00 PM Friday, November 3, 2023 at Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Storie and Dr. Jim McConnell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM in the sanctuary. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. 


Memorials may be made in his memory to Zion Baptist Church: 525 W. Zion Baptist Church Rd. Shelby, NC 28150.


The family would like to thank Shevela Parris, a wonderful nurse and even better friend. In addition, a special thank you to Randy’s caregiver, Alan Laney,  as well as his neighbor, David Roberts, who always included him in “the gang.”
