Obituary

SLAYTON, Randolph Wilson "Sonny", of Keysville and Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully at age 86 on June 15, 2009. Sonny was a World War II veteran, received the Purple Heart and also a retired Westinghouse Electric employee. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ethelene Kunath Slayton; their sons, Charles R. Slayton (Melanie) of Keysville, Va., Carl W. Slayton and Carlton L. Slayton of Richmond, Va.; three grandchildren, Christopher R. Slayton (Casey) of Columbia, Va., Whitney Slayton and Austin Slayton of Keysville; two great-grandchildren, Hailey and Miranda. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at the Browning Funeral Home in Keysville, Va. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009 in the Cool Spring Christian Church, followed by burial in the church cemetery.

We were so sorry to hear about Sonny's passing. We were away on vacation when we found out. I told mom to let you know that we were thinking of you but would be unable to attend the services. We have so many fond memories of Sonny and your family at Chippenham Church. We sure miss those days. Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Ethelene and family, I'm so sorry to hear of Sonny's passing. He was a person that I always wanted to bump into at ANY event, back in the days at Chippenham! I enjoyed every conversation I ever had with him, and hearing about his hunting exploits was something I always looked forward to.
