I got to know Randy through Laurie. He was very funny, so laughter was always part of the picture. He was charming in a slightly ironic way. He twinkled. And he had great tolerance of good-willed friends of Laurie's making inquiries about the life of music; I should know. Several times i various cities where he way playing, sometimes with Laurie along, sometimes not, I was invited to join him and his colleagues before or after the show bar talk, always easy and gentle and fun. My sympathy to the family, friends, and fans of Mr. Jones. I just recently "discovered" him while listening to one of the later recordings from Dave Brubeck. I was just starting to search and learn more about him and was saddened to see of his passing. He had amazing talent. May God bless and comfort you all.

I'm sorry to hear of the loss of Randy. Good memories appear, thinking of Randy (for me always in combination with Willem H.). Laughter, music, friendship, thoughts and feelings that will always remain with me.
