Woodfin Funeral Chapel - Smyrna Obituary

Randy (a.k.a. Block or Blockhead) Parmer age 60 of Smyrna died Tuesday, February 23, 2021. He was a native of Douglas, Georgia and was preceded in death by his parents, James Gerald Parmer and Montine Townsend Parmer.

His service included: Youth Pastor, Associate Pastor, Senior Pastor, a member of The District NYI Council and Co-Director of SoloCon. Most recently Randy was employed by Kroger and served as an Associate Pastor at Smyrna Church of the Nazarene. His personal passion was his online video blog, “Not So Crazy Talk”, which will be his ministry legacy sharing the gospel through his own unique and whimsical perspective.

From the youngest to the eldest he was a friend to all. He rarely met a stranger that didn’t become a friend. Randy’s light shown brightly in this world.  Each life he touched was illuminated with the love of Christ as he shared part of himself with all he encountered. Randy loved big and lives were made better as a result.

Not sure what to say?

Randy was a good friend. We were often crossed paths doing ministry, particularly singles ministry. He was usually an inspiration, when he wasn't he was making everyone laugh (which was inspiring in a different sort of way, I guess). Randy is missed, but his witness lives on in the videos he made, the posts he shared, but, most of all, in those he came into contact with.

I worked with Randy at Kroger, he was so good to work with. He kept everyone uplifted as employees and customers knew they were appreciated. I wish I had gotten to know him better. He was such a good person. I was truly blessed to know him.

Great memories of The Parmers when they lived in Lanett. Saw Randy a few years ago . Enjoyed talking with him .
Prayers for the family.

He leaves a legacy of Christ like live!

Randy always brought joy and laughter! In meetings, he'd show his serious side, too. My life is better for knowing Randy. A life well-lived and cut way too short! So grateful for our Resurrection Hope and I anticipate a great heavenly reunion.

What a life legacy he lived for Christ! Know the family is being lifted in prayer.

Joy, Danny and family,
So sorry to learn of the passing of Randy. Will always cherish the fond memories we have of him when he was at Mt. Olive serving as our associate pastor. He was a friend to all and I can just imagine his homecoming with Gerald and Montine. May the peace of God comfort and sustain you in the days ahead. Our love and prayers are with you..

Take your rest our wonderful classmate. From Lanet High School Class of 1978 Lanett Alabama.

One of the last times I got to see you.

You will always hold a special place in our hearts. This was so sudden and heartbreaking for all of us in the Johnson County community. There will never be another like you. We love you and pray for your family.
