Not sure what to say?

I met RJ and Gary I believe in the summer of 1977..we were working on Bayou St. John and I was then a student of Landscape Architecture at LSU. When I graduated in 1981, RJ rented me my very first apartment at 832 Gov. Nicholls...it needed alot of work, but I only paid $150 a month and was thrilled to live in the French Quarter. To this day some of my fondest memories go back to that creole cottage apartment and RJ's generosity of spirit. When I moved away and returned to New Orleans,I often...

My garden and I sorely miss R.J. and his love of beauty. He would go to a nursery and act like a kid in a candy store, then come to my garden and plant all the lovely things he had bought, to my great delight. Gary, I am so sorry for your loss. Your devotion to R.J. is an example to us all. I was in St. Louis when the memorial service was held, or I would have been there. R.J. will live on through his gardens.

Please accept my sympathy. I met R.J. at Malta Square through his friend Henretta Hudson . I was the Nurse there when he use to visit her .
I am now relocated. Kathleen

Rj was a very special person and we will miss him so much. We are sorry that we can't be there for his memorial service cause I know there will be so many people there and so much love that everyone had for him.My heart goes out to you Gary for the empty space that he has left in your life. He left his mark on the world and we have all his gardens so that we can always remember him......

R. J. will be greatly missed by all of us at the Hermann-Grima and Gallier Historic Houses. His courageous spirit and gallant determination to lead a normal life during his illness were truly inspirational. He was one-of-a-kind, and will always be fondly remembered.

Aaron and I wanted to let you know that RJ will always hold a very special place in our hearts. He will be truly missed for he was a very dear friend. Gary, you and his remaining family are in our prayers.

Gary, I am sorry to hear of RJ's passing. It is my privledge to have known him. With deepest sympathy, Stewart Gahn ( West Hills Ca. )

I will miss his joyous smile and presence. He was a special person and my heart is with you Gary.

RJ was a friend to me while I used to live next door to him and Gary on Governor Nicholls. I was always glad to see RJ and enjoyed visiting with him while his dogs played ourside under his watchful eye. He was a friend and I am sorry that you, Gary, will have such a void in your life. I will keep you in my prayers. Peace and condolences to you, Gary.
