Mr. Raphael Anthony Ferrugia age 91 passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday December 1,2024 in the Union General Hospital due an extended illness. Mr. Ferrugia was born on July 3,1933 in New York City, NY., the son of the late Carmelo Farrugia and the late Rufa Tovar Farrugia. He was raised in Ny with his parents, brothers and sisters. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served his country proudly. He married the love of his life Nancy and they had 4 children. He was a loving and caring father, brother, grandfather uncle, and great grandfather.
Ray and his wife Nancy moved to Spring Hill Florida in the late 90s where Lori and her children followed. Once retired they were able to enjoy the beautiful weather, beaches, vacations, race tracks, and many casino trips! Having part of his family in Florida was such a blessing being local and able celebrate holidays and birthdays to taking trips together and spend time with the grandkids. Ray was like a father to Loris children so he took on a huge responsibility and role him n Nancy dedicated themselves to family! Ray was raised catholic and shared his faith and love for God with his family.
Ferrugia was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Oppenheimer Ferrugia in 2004. Some years later they decided for him to live with Lori and some of her children and she has been by his side since, as a daughter and his caretaker as he aged and his health declined. He’s been surrounded by all of his family and loved ones through out all of these years and looked forward to his children, the grandchildren and great grand children to visit! 💗
Surviving Mr. Ferrugia are one son, Christopher Ferrugia of FL one daughter, Lori Ferrugia of Murphy NC/FL one sister, Olga Adawamitz of Queens, NY., six grandchildren, Alexandrea, Tiffany, Gabrielle, Kristina, Samantha, Mackenzie, and nine great grandchildren, Arrianna, Russell Jr., Hayden, Veda, Kyla, Jayzic, Gregory, Alessia and Leo, and many other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at the Bushnell National Cemetery with Military Honors presented by the US Navy. The family will meet with friends following the services at the cemetery.
