Ray was a very innovative chemist and materials scientist who was always active in research. He contributed a lot to the Controlled Release Society and to the American Chemical Society. He edited several important volumes on polymers for drug delivery. He was the author the a well known Handbook on Hydrogels (2010) which is still used and cited by many. He was a Fellow of AIMBE. He will be missed.
