Not sure what to say?

Faith and All...loved reading the entries!! How blessed we were to have known and experienced the love of both your parents!! Love you and prayers continue as you grieve.

Faith and Paul........Your Dad was a blessing to many, many students and especially to me! I loved his classes because he was very interesting, very personable, and a friend. He made each of us feel special. His love for his church and his Savior was evident. And, his love for his children was very evident! I remember when Paul was in the hospital, we all took Dr. Peppers to Dr. Atchison. My prayers are with your family.

Paul and Faith, you are in my every thought, every hope and every prayer. I will always treasure precious memories of Ray and Doris/oh, the beautiful friendship we shared for 60+ years. Their love for you was beyond compare/how proud they were! Such a beautiful family!
The brightness of a life well-lived continues to shine.
Gently, tenderly...time heals. God's grace, peace and
love to you and yours. Take care.

How sad to lose a loved one, but how wonderful to know God blessed this man with a long, long life so he could continue to influence people with his warmth and knowledge. I last saw Dr A at the Samford alumni brunch in 2007 (my 50th year) and experienced an embrace of a teacher showing pride in his student, and the embrace of a student showing such an aura of gratitude to the teacher. I'm sure he is now with our Heavenly Father.

I was so sorry to hear about your dad. My dad, Ed Thompson and your dad started first grade together in Columbiana. They stayed in touch until their mid eighties. He kept all the letters that he received from your dad. I do not not know of anyone he had more respect for.
You are in my prayers.

Atchison family, you have my deepest sympathy. Dr. Atchison was my first college English instructor at Samford University, in 1986. He was a very kind and caring man. He soothed my freshman fears and gently, yet strongly encouraged me to be the best student I could be! I graduated from Samford and also met my husband there...because I stayed. I teetered on whether I could make through. However, Dr. Atchison, would stop and talk to me wherever he saw me to inquire about how things were going....

Faith & family - so sorry to read of your dad's passing. Lee remembers being in your dad's American Authors class at Samford, but we also have a vivid memory of him serving at Dawson those many years. We know you'll miss him. Our prayers are with you. God Bless.

Dr. Atchison was one of my favorite teachers at Samford. He was my English teacher when I was a freshman. I also knew him at Dawsom for many years.

Faith & Paul - we were part of a unique group of kids who were blessed to grow up as Samford professors' kids. I am deeply sorry for your loss and that of the rest of your family. He was an incredible man and will live on in the memory of those who were honored to be his students.
