Ray Coleman Obituary

Ray Coleman Jr. ARLINGTON--Ray Coleman Jr. passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, at Christ Chapel Bible Church, 3701 Birchman Ave., Fort Worth, Texas, 76107. MEMORIALS: A donation in Ray's memory can be made to The First Tee of Fort Worth, 1900 Rockwood Park Drive North, Fort Worth, TX 76114. This organization impacts the lives of young people by teaching life skills through the game of golf, encouraging leadership, building character, and fostering community service. Memorials may also be made to the Christ Chapel Bible Church. Ray was born Nov. 18, 1943, to Lillie Mae Brush and Ray Coleman Sr. in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a graduate of Texas Wesleyan College. His passion for golf determined his career, which spanned over 50 years in the golf industry with the Ben Hogan Company, Arnold Palmer Golf, and Bridgestone Sports. During his career, he was privileged to play many premier golf courses and golf resorts in the United States and around the world. His favorite course was Cypress Point, Pebble Beach, Calif. He said if God had a tee time it would be the 11th hole at Cypress Point. The year before he retired, he lived a golfer's dream, going to Spain on the Concord with the Ryder Cup team, playing Augusta and the Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland. Ray was a teacher, a friend and very straightforward about life and what he thought. He loved the Lord and shared that love with so many. He was in his favorite chair with his two dogs, Bella and Lucy, watching the Billy Graham funeral and went to sleep. Someone said, "I can't think of a better way to go to heaven than on the coat tails of Billy Graham." SURVIVORS: He is survived by his wife, Priscilla; sons, Jeff of Longview, Brett and wife, Jennifer, of Austin and Brian and husband, John Moore, of Battle Creek, Mich.; grandchildren, Anna Mae, JW, Briana, Caroline and Sam; stepdaughters, Melissa Wasson of Dallas, Jennifer Bolet of Fort Worth; stepsons, George Malaise and Jason Benefield of Fort Worth; eight stepgrandchildren; sisters-in-law, Virginia Goodson of Fort Worth and Rebecca Hazelwood of Cheyenne, Wym.; and his lifelong friend, Wade Walker. The family wishes to thank Heartis Assisted Living for their loving care and support.

I just heard the news tonight (March 13). Prayers and god s peace to the family. I worked with Ray for many years. I broke bread with Ray for all those years and more. I learned from Ray and I think he would say he learned from me as well. God bless RC.

I worked with Ray at Hogan. He was a wonderful and information Person to work with. He always seem to know the answer to any question; it was a pleasure to work with him.

Out of Pain and teaching G-d to play better golf.

I worked with Ray at the Ben Hogan Company. I found Ray to be informative, helpful, appreciative, supportive and a pleasure to work with. I worked with Ray on several outside special projects for the Ben Hogan Company and saw that the rest of the world saw Ray as a great guy also. Heaven got a Sweetheart... R.I.P. Ray.
