Not sure what to say?

We did not learn about Ray's passing until today, July 1, 2013, and we are so saddened to loose our friend Ray. He and Sue were both wonderful, kind, and fun friends! Our friendship goes back to the mid-1960's in Houston during our Sports Car Club of America days. Our sympathy to the entire Herndon family. Ray and Sue will be missed, but we consider ourselves fortunate to have known them and to have had their friendship. Blessings to all of you.

I knew Ray from the Houston SCCA. He and Sue were the nicest and special folks. They showed so much interest in my handicap racing effort and gave me so much encouragement. They were a sincere friend.

He was a good Man,knew from SCCA Racing.
He was always thinking ahead and planning
for any problems on the track as well as
club needs. I will always remember he and
Sue.

I knew Ray and Sue Herndon from SCCA. I have his logo design for the 1986 national championship runoffs framed on my wall. It's the best representation of the spirit of sports car racing ever. I always found Ray, and Sue also, to be unfailingly helpful, nice, and the delightful definition of cool. God Speed to them.

Ray -- and Sue -- were two of my best friends and cohorts during the 1960's, working on The Houston Clubber magazine. We won a lot of awards together -- and we drove a couple of sports cars, too! I had an MGA, and Ray had a Triumph -- both were green. Wonderful couple.

Thank you to all of Dad's friends who I have corresponded with and met in this last month. My Dad was a special person who has had quite an influence on who I am today.

PS No, I don't tell jokes, haha

Dear Herndon family,
First, please accept my sincere condolences for the passing of Ray. My name is David McCord. My father Jim McCord and your dad were best buddies from grade school until his passing in 1992. In fact, your dad came up from Houston to attend the services, and contacted me by phone and letter to express his sympathy. He was very thoughtful at a difficult time in our family's life. After reading the obit, I took down dad's photo album and removed an old...
