Not sure what to say?

I have fond memories of Ray arriving at the newly refurbished Walton Arms in the early seventies as head chef and quickly becoming a good friend - I'm sure he used to spend half his wages at the local joke shop!
We had so many good times with all the staff especially Noony and Emily the two ladies who washed up in the kitchen.
Happy times were also spent with Lil, Stan and Sue especially at the race nights and also parties at the Lawrence home where I was always made so welcome.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of the most lovable and comical fellow countryman we have ever known. The Market will never be the same without "Our Limey" who made us laugh every weekend.

We had such fun teasing him when Manchester United beat Liverpool. He told Malcolm that he was a 'bad penny'.

Our hearts go out to his family here in Oregon and Liverpool, England. We share their sorrow.

Irene and Malcolm

I hadn't seen my Uncle Ray for a long time, but I'll miss him nonetheless. I'll miss our phone conversations and the way he'd make me laugh. I'd sit there giggling uncontrollably as he'd say "so how's slack arse?". I remember him as a happy, laid back, caring Uncle who was always interested in where I was in my life. Even though we only knew each other over the phone for so many years, I felt like I could talk to him about anything. You'll be sorely missed Ray. Much love to my Auntie Di,...

MY HUSBAND & I STARTED GOING DOWN FROM OLYMPIA TO THE SATURDAY MARKET ABOUT 6 YEARS AGO..IT TOOK JUST ONE VISIT TO "LIMEY'S POTATOES" TO START A TRADITION OF THE POTATOES BEFORE WE WOULD START OUR SHOPPING AT THE MARKET..HE WAS SO PERSONABLE, KIND AND SOFT SPOKEN ON EVERY VISIT..IT WON'T BE THE SAME WITHOUT HIS POTATOES OR HIS KINDNESS ON FUTURE VISITS !! WE EVEN BOUGHT THE "SPECIAL" DIPPING SAUCE FOR OUR POTATOES AT HOME AND ALWAYS THOUGHT OF HIM WHEN WE USED IT !! WHAT A TREASURE OF A...

Every Sunday morning I would come in early to set up for the day at the market and the smell of Limey cooking his shortbread was the best thing I have ever experienced in my life! I would yell back "Limey, is that you?"....he would laugh and smile! I will miss Limeys laughter & smile....I respected him so much and always looked up to him. Thanks for being you Limey! Peace, Love & joy to Limeys family....

I met Ray when I was cocktailing at Harvey's Comedy Club. The charming, funny Brit who knew how to win a lady's heart, through her mouth. I remember seeing his smiling face and hoping he brought a whole cheesecake for the staff who worked there. We would hide in the kitchen and stuff ourselves with his secret recipes til we were sick! I'll never forget his beautiful smile, and disposition.
Ray, Tim and I will miss you dearly. Lots of love to Diana and the girls.
Cheers,

I first met Ray in Joe Rastatter’s comedy class, almost twenty years ago. Ray always had a great and likeable presence, on and off the stage, and was generous to a fault, whether giving away food or sharing a comedy technique or making a stranger laugh. He had a wonderful laugh himself. His eyes would twinkle and he would place one hand on his stomach whenever he began to roll with laughter. He had an infectious laugh, too, and was quick to display it. I believe someone mentioned this line of...

Ray will be so missed in so many ways. We did stand-up together he was just a wonderful guy. I'm shocked and saddened about his unexpected death.

Ray. You were always full of jokes and laughter. Ray you touched so many with the laughter you created and smiles you brought to everyone who crossed your path. I will miss you. Diana, Emily, Sara, Charlotte I am so sorry for your loss.
