Not sure what to say?

Ray and I worked on producing "The Pacific Northwest Guide to Home Gardening" published by the renowned Timber Press, Portland, OR. This is the first I've seen of his death. Good bye to a teacher with impact.

We'll miss that smile and always friendly
greeting that went with it. I only wish that
we could remember all that you tried to teach
in The Clackamas County Master Gardener training.
We'll do our best and you certainly will be missed.

I owe a great debt to Ray and the Master Gardener Program. My first job after taking time off to raise my boys was with the OSU Extension 4-H Program in Multnomah County. I had completed the Master Gardener program and was working the garden hot line when a position opened in the 4-H Program. Ray and Jan encouraged me to apply for the position as I had organized youth activities for the annual Harvest Fair. I was hired and this position was the start of my journey to become an educator and...

Wish we could have played together!

Thank you, Ray, for encouraging me!

Ray and Jan contributed much to local gardeners for so many years. I always considered him an icon. He will be very missed. My condolences to Jan and family.

Ray was the go-to garden expert on all things horticulture. He taught our Master Gardener class back in the day, what a good teacher! He and Jan were a wonderful couple. Although he will not be here with us, I will always remember him as a man who brought light to the world and we were warmed by that light.

Ray was always willing to answer pruning questions. He very diplomatically suggested we leave pruning to the experts. We enjoyed our camping and backyard cocktails with he and Jan. A truly smart, nice man with wonderful stories to share. We miss you Ray.
