Ray Wireman, 71, died at 8:45 a.m. Oct. 1, 2012, at St. Rita's Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Nov. 8, 1940, in Salyersville, Ky., to Hursel and Martha Banny Wireman, who preceded him in death. On July 16, 1958, he married Linda K. DePalma, who survives in Spencerville. Mr. Wireman retired as a machine repairman from R.G. Dun Cigar Factory and as a maintenance man from Superior Whole Sales, after a combined 52 years. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 471, Delphos, for more than 50 years, where he was a past worthy president. He was a Baptist. He loved spending time with his family, friends and especially his granddaughter. He enjoyed cutting wood, camping, old cars, riding motorcycles and having his oldest son taking him to casinos. Survivors also include two sons, Raymond Lee Wireman, of Chicago, and Mark Allen (Julie A.) Wireman, of Delphos; a granddaughter, Morgan Ray Wireman, of Delphos; three brothers, Donald Wireman, of Harrod, Larry (Teresa) Wireman, of Westminster, and Craig Wireman, of Florida; five sisters, Faye (James) Matson, of Wapakoneta, Geraldine Wireman, of Lafayette, Sandy Bryan, of Alger, LaVada (David) Eley, of Westminster, and Mary (Robert) Evenbeck, of Ada; a brother-in-law, Fred (Sharon) DePalma, of Lima; and his canine companion, Dogee. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Alice Faye and Geralin Wireman; and his stepmother, Ruth Wireman. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. Pastor Ed Wireman will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County Dog Warden's Office, 1165 Seriff Road, Lima, OH 45805.
