Raymond Carreon, 63, of San Jose, California, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 1, 1999.
He was born on August 31, 1936, in Brawley, California. His family moved to Oxnard, California, in 1940, where he lived until he was 20 years old. At that time he moved to Mountain View, California, where he met a man by the name of James Lorca. James introduced Raymond to his sister, Mary Rose – Raymond and Mary Rose were together and married for 41 years.
They settled first in Campbell, California, and after 12 years moved nearby into their final home in San Jose. They had three children, Machele Ann, Raymond Jr., and Mark Anthony, who preceded him in death.
He led a simple but humble life, and his family always came first. He was always there to tell them he was proud of their accomplishments, and encouraged them to always have a new dream to follow. He loved taking the family camping and fishing.
In his 35 years of working for Green Valley Disposal he made many lasting friendships. He was an excellent craftsman working with upholstery for automobiles and dreamed of working in his shop at home in retirement. He loved restoring cars and trucks.
Next to loving his family, his passion was for music. He learned to play guitar at age 19 with his brother Faustino, and possessed a natural ear for music – he could learn a song in just minutes of listening to it. After mastering the guitar, he learned the keyboard, harmonica, and violin . . . all without lessons!
In 1987, he and friends Reyes and Julio formed the group "Nejama." The group entertained at weekend engagements for family, friends, and special occasions. His most cherished years of entertaining, though, were with his brother Faustino. Their special magic of playing music and singing together was a loved and enjoyed tradition at all family gatherings.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Mary Rose Carreon. He was the loving father of Raymond Carreon Jr., Machele Ann Webb, and of Mark Anthony Carreon, who preceded him in death. He was the dear father-in-law of John Michael Webb; the devoted grandfather of Lisa Mari Carreon, Justin Raymond Carreon, John Ryan Webb, Scott Michael Webb, and Sara Rose Webb; and the loving great-grandfather of Anthony Napolitano. A devoted son to his mother, Florence Pathley Carreon, he was also the loving brother of Rose, Faustino, Louie, Gilbert, Betty, and Bobby, and had many loving nieces and nephews who will all miss him very much.
