Raymond Lancaster Clifton Jr.

DATELINE HODGES RAY CLIFTON Raymond Lancaster Clifton, Jr., 65, resident of 115 Mariners Cove Road, husband of Diane Marie Tanguay Clifton, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Hospice House. Born in Salem, NJ, January 19, 1947, he was a son of the late Raymond Lancaster, Sr. and Ruth Ann Cook Clifton. A graduate of Kennett High School in Kennett Square, PA, Mr. Clifton was a US Navy Veteran and was stationed in Misawa, Japan, Winter Harbor, ME and served aboard the USS Coral Sea. He and his wife moved to the Greenwood area in 1995 from Plymoth, NC. He was a member of the Merry Mixers Square Dance Club. Surviving in addition to his wife of thirty-nine years of the home are two daughters, Jennifer Welfare and husband, Alan of Gastonia, NC and Kimberly Prazak and husband, Matthew of Newland, NC; three grandchildren, Nicholas Welfare, Jeffrey Prazak and Wyatt Prazak; one sister, Jacqui Clifton of Coatesville, PA; sisters-in-law, Suzanne Tanguay of Denver, CO and Denise Carmody and Bill Boyer of Agawam, MA; and brother-in-law, Charles Tanguay and wife, Linda of Chicopee, MA. Mr. Clifton is also survived by his faithful Golden Retriever, Bear. Private services will be conducted later. The family is at the home, 115 Mariners Cove Road where they will receive friends throughout the day Friday, June 8, 2012 and Saturday, June 9, 2012. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Meals on Wheels, PO Box 997, Greenwood, SC 29648 or to Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.
