Raymond G. Davis

One of the finest officers I had the privilege of serving with. In the G-2 Division of HQMC in 1957 to 1959, I was honored to serve him as Top Secret Control Officer. He always had time for anyone.

I never met the General, but wish I had. I served 6 years in the Marines, 1959-1965. I live 13 miles from Fitzgerald, GA where he was born. I admired him greatly. He was a true American hero.

i had the honor to serve with general davis when he lead us across
the mountains to fox co 7th marines.
he was a real hero to his nen, a great leader. had the honor to see him at many reunions
and have a glass of wine with him and knox. love them both forever.

I don't know how or why but I seem to have stumbled upon Gen. Davis as the subject for my class at corporals course. I hope I can portray his full scope of qualities to the marines here not only in the class but also in my life. He is exactly what I have been needing in my life as a leader of marines.

General Davis is a hero and very humble man. He is a true patriot and a great neighbor. I wish all of the Davis family the best and I am sorry for your loss.

Mrs. Davis, it was a real honor to have know your husband. I was a Quatermaster aboard the U.S.S LSMR 404 ( Rocket Ship ) that was envolved in the evacuation at Hungnam, Korea on Christmas eve of 1950.

I had the great honor of meeting General Davis in 2000 when George W. Bush came to Jacksonville during his Presidential campaign. I observed that General Davis was wearing his Medal of Honor, and he graciously allowed me to have a photo taken with him. General Davis found that I was also a Marine, and he told me "Semper Fi, Marine." It was an honor for General Davis, literally a living legend, to recognize this mere Corporal as one of his brethren. Our Nation has lost a true hero.
