Not sure what to say?

I knew and respected Ray when I was a new constable at Takapuna s as bout 35 years ago. I also played tennis with Ray at his Becroft club. At work he could be gruff but never sweated the small stuff and was always supportive. He was certainly respected and a legend at the station. It´s sad to hear his passing but I will never forget Ray `s character. Thanks for your service, friendship and memories Ray. You will not be forgotten

So sorry to hear of Rays passsing. He was one of lifes good "buggers". Ray could always bring a smile to my face , espcially when he would starting leatchering his section on statute law at lunch on night shift. RIP Ray. Kia Kaha my friend, Brendon & Bronwyn MEXTED

I have known Ray for over 40 years through tennis. He was a long-time member of the Becroft Park Tennis Club before moving to the Hibiscus Coast. We played in the same inter-club team for many years - won some/lost some - great times. He was President of the Club for the 1976/77 season and again jointly in 1981/82 season. I worked at Takapuna with Ray as a Sergeant and a Senior Sergeant . Ray was a staunch and loyal member of police who held his position proudly. He was very supportive of his work mates and his knowledge of the law for advice to staff was very sound. I played many a tough tennis game with and against him .. I enjoyed his e mail contact when I moved overseas and his sound political views. I will miss you old soldier .. J C

As a senior sergeant at Takapuna RJ enforced the rules but backed the troops when things went wrong. One of a few who earned my respect.
