GRIZZEL, RAYMOND R.
Of Grand Blanc, age 88, passed peacefully at his home with his endearing wife at his side, Saturday, February 1, 2014. Funeral service will be held 1 PM Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery 11:30 AM Friday, February 7, 2014. Those desiring may make contributions to the charity of one's choice. Visitation 11 AM Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Raymond was born in Vanderbilt, Michigan on September 13, 1925, the son of Leonard and Mabel (Robinson) Grizzel and was a resident of Grand Blanc since 1965. He married Genevieve Allore on September 13, 1947. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Teamsters Local #332. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #3243 and former member of the Moose Lodge #430 in Fenton. Raymond was also a Master Gardener and an avid sports fan. Mr. Grizzel was employed as a truck driver with Anchor Motor Freight and Complete Auto Transit for 30 years, retiring in 1987. Surviving are his wife, Genevieve Y. (Allore) Grizzel; son, Richard P. Grizzel and wife Anne K. Grizzel; daughter, Lois A. Sharp-Schneider; sons-in-law, David R. Sharp and Jeffery D. Schneider; grandchildren, Dustin Sharp, Allore Sharp, Cameron Schneider, Katie Grizzel, Alex Grizzel and Lawrence Scott Grizzel; daughter-in-law, Alana Sharp; great-grandchild, Ryken Raymond Sharp; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Lawrence R. Grizzel, two brothers and two sisters. His gentle spirit will be sorely missed. Remember his contagious smile.
