Raymond Gusman, 97, of DePue passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Allure of Peru.
The funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Ray will begin at 10:30 AM, on Monday, March 11, 2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church in DePue. Rev. Scott Potthoff. will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in DePue with military rites by the Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation for Ray will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley and additional visitation on Monday from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
Ray was born on October 23, 1926 in Mexico to Guadalupe and Delores (Tinco) Gusman. He married Refugia Cruz on January 5, 1952 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in DePue. She preceded him in death on January 31, 2011. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in DePue and was a World War 2 Army Veteran serving from 1945 to 1946. Ray had worked at New Jersey Zinc in DePue until retiring.
He is survived by his daughter, Anne (Patrick) Fauth of Peru; his son, Johnny Ray (Samara) Gusman of Cystal Lake; four grandchildren, Alexa (Justin) Bubb of California, Taylor Fouth of Peru, Josh Holman of Indiana, and Stacy (Nick) Snow of Minonk; 1 great granddaughter, Rylie Lance; 2 sisters, Julia Hardy of Peru; Gloria (Dale) Samolinski of Peru; 3 brothers, Robert (Barb) Gusman of Peoria Heights; Andrew (Teresa) Gusman of Chillicothe; Gus (Leah) Gusman of Minden, Louisiana.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife; daughter, Sarah Holman; 2 sisters, Jesse Cervantes and Juanita Baron; 3 brothers, Trinidad, Lupe and Alveno.
