McNally & Watson Funeral & Cremation Service - Clinton Obituary

CLINTON

Raymond J. Hatt, 81, died Thursday, April 29, 2021, in UMass Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester, after a brief illness.

He leaves a sister, Margaret J. Prachnick, of Berlin. Two sisters, Mary Kent and Marsha Gour, predeceased him.

Ray was born in Worcester and raised in Berlin, son of Harvey and Beatrice (Hanney) Hatt.  He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, Fitchburg, and a US Marine Corps Veteran, serving in the Vietnam War.  Following his time in the service, Ray attended Quinsigamond Community College, Worcester.

For many years, he worked as a Delivery Driver for Germain’s Market of Marlborough and Berlin.

A devout Catholic, he was raised as a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church, Berlin, and, in adulthood, settled in Clinton, where he was a member of the former Our Lady of Jasna Gora Church, and, from its closing until the time of his death, a member of St. John the Guardian of Our Lady Parish at St. John the Evangelist Church, Clinton.

Burial with military honors in the family plot in St. John’s Cemetery, Lancaster, will be private. There are no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to St. John’s Church, 149 Chestnut St., Clinton, MA 01510. Arrangements are under the care and direction of McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton.  To share a memory of Ray, or offer condolences to his family, please sign the Guest Book.

Not sure what to say?

Please accept our condolences on Ray' passing. I served with Ray at Quantico in the 1960"s and have kept in touch by cards with letters since then. I will sadly miss him. My family and I visited with him at his home in 1969 and he came to visit us later on.

Sorry to hear of Ray's passing, I served with him at Quantico in 1961 and 1962 and kept in touch by Christmas card every year. He visited my family in California in the late 60s and spent a couple days with us, recuperating from a sore knee he received after hiking down into the Grand Canyon. He will be missed. Ted Kozak, Fisherville, KY

Please accept my condolences on behalf of myself and my family. Ray was my 2nd cousin on my Mother’s side, Carol (Hanney) Nelson. Ray made a point of attending my Mothers funeral and her sisters funeral in Clinton. His thoughtfulness and kindness will not be forgotten and I will remember Ray in my prayers
