Raymond W. Hess

LANCASTER: Raymond W. Hess, 81 of Lancaster passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at his home. He was born January 19, 1934 in Martinsburg to the late Delber and Hazel (Higgins) Hess.

Ray was a co-founder of Ray-Mar Steel. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Lancaster and the Lancaster Pistol and Rifle Club.

Survived by his wife, Margie (Shubirg) Hess; children, Robert (Pam) Hess of Franklin, IN, Randy (Kacy) Hess, Sherry (Jeff) O'Brien, Robin (Denise) Hess, Rusty Hess, all of Newark, and Halle Hess of Lancaster; grandchildren, Andrea Hess, Toni Hess, Jeremy (Amanda) Hess, Dayna (Kyle) Jacob, Riley Hess, Ian O'Brien, Jason (Kaitlin) Hess, Julie Hess, Jared (Catherine) Glaser, Joel (Allison) Glaser, and Shelby McGaughy; brothers, Roy (Mary Lou) Hess, Roland Hess; aunt, Jean Hoh; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Hess; brothers, Ronald Hess and Ralph Hess.

Friends and family may visit 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 1950 Pleasantville Rd, Lancaster. A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Dr. John K. Beckett officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or FairHoPe Hospice.
