O'Neill Funeral Home - Cumberland Obituary

Raymond Donat Moreau, age 93, of Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Grandview Center with his beloved wife of 71 years Theresa (Broadmeadow) Moreau by his side.

Ray was born November 20, 1928, in Pawtucket, the son of the late Loretta St. Louis and Joseph Moreau. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and the cherished father of the late Robert Moreau, of Attleboro, MA and David Moreau of Sellersville, PA.

Ray was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph’s in Cumberland. In addition to volunteering, he also lightened hearts for a time as a member of the Valley Singers. For many years he worked at Texas Instruments, and once retired, he and his wife Theresa enjoyed traveling to spring training as die-hard Red Sox fans.

To his family, Ray was “Mr. Fix-it.” He enjoyed home projects, his garden, and lending a helping hand whenever he could. He and Theresa loved road tripping and spent many happy summers over the years visiting friends and family and taking their grandchildren to explore most of the east coast. Ray was also a wonderful cook and was known for his muffins, meat pies, and hearty Thanksgiving dinners.

In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by his daughter-in-law Karen Moreau, grandchildren Kevin Moreau, Rachel Moreau and her husband Jesse Hill; and great-grandchildren Marcel and Benjamin Moreau. He is also survived by a cherished extended family of nephews, nieces, and friends who will always remember his carefree smile and warm, giving nature.

A memorial service for the family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, 35 Dion Drive, Harrisville, RI 02830.

Not sure what to say?

If one could design the "Perfect Uncle," it would without question be this man. My life would not have been anywhere near as rewarding without him. I know my sister and all of my cousins would say the same. Thanks, Uncle Ray, for always being there for us, and for being the man you were. Ski

Terry and family on behalf of the Joseph (Al) Alix family please accept our sincere condolences. May your love and memories sustain you all. JoAnn Alix-Gagain

Uncle Ray, such a wonderful man. You had a unique ability to make us feel that we were the most important person in the world when we were having a conversation, nothing else mattered in that point of time but us...... Unless of course something started burning on the stove.....Just know you always made me feel special, especially these past few years with me taking care of Dad and Mom.

There's a hell of a reunion party happening up there now that the last two brothers have...

Terry please accept my deepest sympathies on your tremendous loss. I am so sorry to hear about Ray’s passing.

Uncle Ray, one of the beloved Moreau men, was a favorite of mine for so many reason. His gentle nature, his wry sense of humor, his devotion to Aunt Terry, his dedication to his family and friendsso many wonderful characteristics that made it so easy to love him so dearly.

Karen, Kevin, Rachel and Jesse, Marcel and Ben – I hope that your memories of Uncle Ray are many, and I pray that they help you through this difficult time of loss. My love to you all; you have my deepest...

So very sorry. Ray was a great man with a great family. I have wonderful memories of the whole family growing up.

Ray, we’ve missed you ever since you and Terri moved away. Now the loss is even deeper. We were so blessed to move in next to you. You were a true gentleman and friend. Our deepest sympathy to Peggy, Cathy and family.

Uncle Ray, I will miss seeing you every week, I will miss our coffee time together. Spending time with you and Aunt Theresa has been wonderful. You both have been such a big and important part of my entire life. Karen, Kevin and Rachel I am so sorry for your loss. He was a true gentleman.

Our condolences to Terry and Ray's extended family. We will always have such fond memories of Raymond, his time with the Valley Singers, and his "horse racing" on our neighborhood bus trips. He was a great neighbor, always ready to help when needed. We will miss you Ray.
