GAYLORD — Mr. Raymond Scholl, 63, of Gaylord, died Sunday, June 10, 2007, at home. He was born in Mancelona on April 14, 1944, the son of Edgar and Lenore (Wiederholt) Scholl. Ray was a lifelong resident of the Mancelona area.

Ray worked at Dura Corporation in Mancelona for almost 43 years, where he was a press operator and yardman.

He enjoyed family outings, fishing, camping and playing golf.

He is survived by his wife, the former Sandra Gordon, whom he married on Jan. 26, 1963. Also surviving are his five children, Nadine (Michael) Russell of Traverse City, Kenneth (Jana) Scholl of Rockford, Donna (Paul) Jones of Mancelona, Ronald (Maggie) Scholl of Gaylord and Raymond (Sheryl) Scholl of Mancelona; 15 grandchildren, Amanda, Sara, Kristin, Cody, Derek, Paul, Jordan, Catherine, Carl, Michael, Stephen, Brian, Tyler, Alec and Raymond; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack and Louis (Cathy) Scholl of Mancelona; and one sister, Barbara (Gary) Curths of Grandville.

Memorial services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Mancelona United Methodist Church.

I was saddened to hear of Ray's passing. Mom had told me that he had fought a long hard battle. Take comfort in knowing that he no longer suffers. I have such good memories of growing up with him and sharing with you as your romance grew. You two went thru a lot together and hung in there. You were an inspiration to many.
