I knew Ray during our college years at Ohio Wesleyan where I was a basketball manager for four years and watched him display his considerable talents. He excelled in pressure situations.....making clutch free throws and key baskets and handling a press. He was the point guard on the 1962 team that won the Ohio Conference Championship and finished 21-3. Ray was a good friend and I felt privileged to really know him. Ray Ray was also known to me as "Uncle Ray" (whenever he called me "Cousin Leah") or more often as "Raybaugh" (which began when the owner of Uncle Thai's ,Ray's favorite Chinese restaurant in Houston could not quite say "Slabaugh" so he ran it all together).
