When I was a student at UNC, I worked as an assistant to Raymond during 1976-77, when he was head of the Federal Judicial Center study of federal court libraries. Raymond was an excellent supervisor and he was a mentor to me. It was an honor to work with him, and I have fond remembrances of our months together. Even though I have not seen him in many years, he has a place in my heart and in my memories.

Raymond's command of the English language always delighted us in West Raleigh Rotary Club. He was extraordinary! Eventually he got to the point of what he wanted to say -- to our great admiration. We had many fine meetings of the Club thanks to Raymond.
