Not sure what to say?

We grew up competing over everything even though he was 3 1/2 years younger. He was always big for his age and mature for his years so the competitions were fierce but friendly. The truly sad thing is that we never got to play basketball, football or hockey together on a team. We both longed to do that but it never happened. It just doesn´t seem right that he went first and with so much to live for.

Uncle Ray, big and strong as a tree, hosted me for a week in Mobile, Alabama when I was a teenager, with his then-new, lovely wife Amy. He was soft spoken, generous and had a great laugh! I have wonderful memories of that time. Rest in peace Uncle Ray.

So many memories remain of a remarkable person, a wonderful parent, a top Athlete and, for me, a great brother. Rest In Peace! Glen

Ray joined Shell the same year that I became an employee of Shell. I got to know him when he became plant manager at the Shell Geismar location. I had great respect for his abilities and the way he managed the plant. Coincidentally, we both retired the same day. I offer my condolences to his family and friends.

It was a privilege to know and work with for many years in different location, and a special privilege to have him as a friend. He was an important person in my life, and I will miss our talks. Just a wonderful man. Bob N

I was working as an operator at the Shell Geismar facility when Ray was plant manager. Ray was a good manager, one of the best. He was easy to talk to and had a great sense of humor. I know that he will be missed. I pray that God will bring peace and comfort to the loved ones he has left behind.

So sorry for your loss. I will keep him and all of the family in my thoughts and prayers. Ray was a fine man to work for in his days at Shell Chemical in Geismar, La. I always felt I was a valued member of the team under his guidance and direction and really appreciated that. I know many of my work mates felt the same. He will be missed. God Bless.

I was on staff at Shell's Geismar Plant during the time that Ray was Plant Manager there, so I saw his tremendous leadership abilities up close. I remember his confident smile and his kindness--qualities that are captured so well in his obituary photograph. At his retirement party (held at Belle Helene, no?) I remember wondering which organization's board of directors he would join. Now I have learned the answer: the board of Portland Piano International. It gives me joy to know that his...
