When I was a little girl, visiting Aunt Clover and Uncle Hezzy’s farm was an event... About a quarter mile away we’d be greeted by a pack of barking dogs, running and jumping alongside the car so I’d be scared to get out... Raymond, maybe all of seven years old in this particular memory (that comes from a five year old me) would wrangle up the dogs, then jumping on the back of one and riding it around the yard, laughing, as if to demonstrate there was no reason to be afraid.
