Not sure what to say?

Ray Vernoy was an inspiration and mentor to all who knew him especially the students and staff at HPHS. Some of my fondest memories were watching Ray coach his football teams on Friday nights. He was a great coach and gentleman.
My sincere condolences to his family.

My deepest sympathies to the Vernoy family. I have very fond HPHS memories of Coach Vernoy. It makes sense that Coach was a Marine. Years after HP I met and married Marilyn Novakoff. The Novakoff family were neighbors and friends of both Coach Vernoy and Coach Springer.

Coach Vernoy was truly an inspiration to not only to his athletes but students too. He provided leadership at the school during some turbulent times in our history. He was not only a great man but an outstanding coach. I can still remember the 56-6 win over Reseda High School for the LA City Championship in 1959.

My sympathies to the Vernoy family. I taught for many years at HPHS, and I enjoyed working with Ray. He will be missed.

It is with a very heavy heart that I send this message. I would first like to send my deepest sympathy to the entire family both the immediate and Spartan. I will always consider Coach V in my family! Only a family member would go out of ther way to help you become the person they believe you can be, Coach spent many long hours with me not only discussing football but his philosophy for life. I have a father but It sure helped having a second! He was stearn but fair, strict but caring.Coach...

My heart felt sorrow for the Vernoy family. What a great legacy Coach Vernoy left. I had the opportunity to play for Coach Vernoy and I always appreciated his ability to teach the game. He taught hard nosed football with a spirit of fairness. His life and legacy will be remembered. I will always be thankful for having you as a teacher and a coach....City Champs 1959

Coach Vernoy was my greatest influence at HP. He was not only a coach of football and other sports, he was my first life coach. I'm thamkful for the many fond memories that he has given to me.

It's with saddness of heart I write these words. My last 3 years at H.P. I played varsity football and what a wonderful 3 years they were. Thats because of the coaches we had them. Rhea and Vernoy. They taught the little things that were needed to be known. Coach Vernoy looked after me because I had no football skills. Go Spartans. W/57. Bob
