Reba Moss

SHELBY-- Reba McSwain Moss, 92, died Wednesday Aug. 7, 2013, at her home.
Born in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Drury Rueben and Ollie Vera Putnam McSwain. After high school, Reba attended Blanton's Business College in Asheville. During WWII she worked at the U. S. Navy in Charleston as a typist. Later she transferred to the confidential section and took short hand from the commandant of the Navy yard. When the war ended she resigned and came home. She went to work with the Cleveland County Schools as a teacher's secretary. From there she went to Shelby High School, and worked there until she retired.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt S. Moss; two brothers, Clifton McSwain, and Reuben McSwain Jr.; a sister, Rena McGinnis; and a brother-in-law, Bobby Simpson.
Reba is survived by two sisters, Evelyn Simpson and Martha Johnson both of Shelby; a sister-in-law, Willie Sue McSwain of Belmont; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: The family will receive friends an hour before the service.
Funeral Service: 3 p.m. Friday at Buffalo Baptist Church, Blacksburg, S.C.

Burial: will follow in the Church cemetery
