I have a great picture in my head of Becky at a party for David Landau. She is sitting on the couch holding Natalie, her darling granddaughter, on her lap. Natalie looks exactly like Becky! What a lovely and special person Becky was.

Becky Adler was one of the many treasured volunteers at New Life Community, a transitional housing program for homeless and jobless families in Cleveland. She taught our parenting classes for years and was outstanding. She continually updated her material and her approach based on her class members. She successfully bridged the gaps between race and age by her deep commitment to social justice, her intelligence, and her caring ways. My deepest sympathies - I am truly sorry that I could not attend the memorial service. My mom told me that it was beautiful and she was glad to see you all again, even under the circumstances. Your mother was a wonderful woman and will be missed by everyone she knew.

Becky was a generous, kind, caring person who believed in putting her values into action. We were neighbors and friends, and enjoyed watching our daughters graduate from high school together. I first met Becky in the late 50s when,as a student member of the Student Christian Union at Western Reserve University, I interviewed her for the position of Associate Director. She was hired and thus began a friendship of more than 50 years. During that period I witnessed her marriage to Bob, their residence on Van Aken,and the birth of her two children. I didn´t know Becky and never met her. I am currently President of the Board of Cleveland Interact. On behalf of all of our board members I wish to send my condolences to you and your family. I know of her good work and that she was in part responsible for the existence of Interact. She has left a wonderful legacy and we sincerely appreciate her goodwill. I will work hard to make her wishes for Interact become reality.

Becky was a part of my life from the time I went to work at Emmanuel Episcopal Church. In her quiet way she helped form projects and bring people together. She was part of the group which founded ESIM now InterAct Cleveland. She remained engaged through all the years, helping and supporting those of us going through difficult times, celebrating achievements.
