Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry for my lateness but my heart goes out to the family. May U all be blessed. M. Tinye Alcorn

It was an honor to be Rebecca Baker's daughter-in-law. I am so grateful for all the love she gave her family, for the amazing example she set for her children, grand-children, and her community. She was a woman of integrity, courage, dignity and compassion. May her legacy live on with the generations to come. I love her dearly.

My heart filled with sorrow to learn of the loss of Mrs. Baker. She was a strong, bonafide Black woman that loved her family and constantly spoke of them with pride. She stood up for those who lacked a voice in the community and was strong in her convictions. She will always have a fond place in the hearts of the many lives she touched. With love and respect, my prayers are with you.

I am the young boy at the lower right. I am now 30 years old as of 2013. My sister is opposite at left, with my father, Rebecca's son, behind.

My amazing grandmother represents the entire city of Gary, Indiana, as a place where a young woman from the South came to run an entire housing project through hard work and dedication.

May joy soon replace the sorrow that's in your heart, with cherished memories.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Mrs. Baker leaves behind a legacy of community service that has touched the lives of so many people, including me. Just remember that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. You will see her again.
