Rebecca (Becky) Sandoval, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister went to be with our Lord on April 14, 2024 at the age of 76, surrounded by her loved ones. Becky was born on January 8, 1948. She survived for 11 years following a double lung transplant.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Rachel Rodriguez; sisters: Estella R. Tovar, Mary Jane Rendon and Rachel Ann Hernandez. She is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years of marriage, Natividad Sandoval, Jr; daughter, Sandra Groomes; son, Timothy Sandoval; sisters: Olga Rodriguez, Adela Ramirez and husband David; brothers: Sam Rodriguez and wife Carol, Gilbert Rodriguez and wife Mary Jane, Tony Rodriguez and wife Alice and Juan Jesus Rodriguez; grandchildren: Brittney Sandoval, Nicholas Kelly, Victoria Sandoval; great-grandchildren: Zoey Sandoval and Dominic Asher Kelly. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Becky was a cherished wife to Sandy. Being a military family, they traveled the world and saw many beautiful sites. After 30 years of U.S. Air Force service, the family settled down in San Antonio, their hometown. Becky raised children like her own, blessed with a large family for whom she deeply cared.
Becky worked at Lackland AFB dining facility where she met the love of her life. She just loved the way Sandy looked in his military uniform!
Becky was a character to be remembered – as we all know! Her love for animals, nature, and family is to be reminisced forever in our hearts – stubborn and set in her ways, she always had to have her coffee and pan dulce while watching western (cowboy) movies every morning, day and night. She kept up a secure routine being sure to care for everyone before herself. She was selfless at heart, being the shoulder anyone could lean on for support; being the beam of light in her home and the glue that stuck the family together, ensuring everyone got along and bonded.
We know that Becky had accepted Jesus Christ in her heart. Not being able to leave the house sometimes – she had Pastor Sam Ortiz and Sister Queta come over and pray and listen to God’s word; but most of all she loved listening to Sister Queta sing her favorite songs. We want to express our appreciation to the Ortiz family for always being there for the Sandoval family.
