Rebecca Zahavi

Rebecca Sosebee Zahavi, aged 75, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. She was born to Clifton Sosebee and Dorothy Hendershot Sosebee on June 13, 1942. Her siblings included Sylvia Henthorn, Dora Sosebee, and Ernest Sosebee. Becky met her husband, Nissan Zahavi on a Merchant Marine ship traveling to Israel in 1963. They returned to New Orleans, LA in 1965 and settled in Gretna to raise their children. Becky is survived by her husband of 55 years, Nissan Zahavi, son Joseph Zahavi and his wife TJ Zahavi and daughter Jenifer Zahavi and grandson Donovan Murray. Sadly, her oldest daughter Jocelyn Voiron passed away on June 07, 2015 after a long illness. Becky is survived by her son-in-law Guy Voiron, grand-daughter Chloe Basiloy and great-grandchildren, Ella and Leo, and grandsons Seth Voiron and Remy Voiron. Becky was a talented painter and Master Gardener who loved to cook and crochet. She took great joy in raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren. Her wit, kindness and commitment to family traditions will be missed. Graveside services were held at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery on Thursday, August 17, 2017.
