William J. Burke & Sons / Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes Obituary

Saratoga Springs - Regina Ballard passed away peacefully on March 13, 2018, just a few weeks from her 97th birthday.

Born on April 7, 1921 to the late Mary and Thomas Brophy she was a lifelong resident of Saratoga Springs.  Prior to her retirement she worked many years side-by-side with her brother Bud and sister-in-law Gail at Purdy’s Wine and Liquors where she always had a friendly smile and enjoyed visiting with the customers.

Regina was an avid walker and every day she could be found on her daily power walks in Saratoga State Park.  One of her greatest pleasures was walking the Marginal Mile in Ogunquit, Maine and looked forward to spending some time there each summer with her husband, Lloyd.

From an early age, Regina was a beautiful knitter and her children, grandchildren and friends are blessed with keepsakes of her work.   In between all of her activities Regina found time to tend to her beautiful flower gardens and was always quite delighted when they were in full bloom.

In addition to her parents Regina is predeceased by her husband, Lloyd; brothers Jack, James (Bud) and grandson John Sheeran.

Survivors include her son Norman (Sheryl) of New York City and Greenwich, daughter Donnah of Seattle, WA, granddaughters Hayley Ballard of New York City and Leigh Sheeran Osterhage (Glen) of Sacramento, CA; grandsons Reid Ballard of New York City and Ryan Glasunow (Allison) of Seattle, WA and great grandson Kyle Osterhage of Sacramento CA, sister-in-law Gail Brophy of Saratoga Springs and several generations of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no public viewing for Regina.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 30 at 10am at St. Clements Church, 231 Lake Avenue, Saratoga Springs NY.  Burial will follow at the family plot in Greenridge Cemetery.

Online remembrances may be made at burkefuneralhome.com.
