Groton - Reginald J. Teague, 88, of 41 Raleigh Court in Groton, passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.

Reggie was born July 13, 1925, in St Albans, Vt., to Leo Teague and Bertha (Lackey) Teague. He attended high school in Fairfax, Vt. where he excelled in soccer and baseball. In 1942, Reggie enlisted as a raider in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a proud World War II veteran where he earned the Purple Heart and numerous other medals and citations. He served in the South Pacific with the 3rd Raider Battalion, the first Provisional Brigade, and the 6th Division. In 1945 he married the love of his life, Lucille Viens of Chicopee Falls, Mass. They moved to Groton in 1947 and raised their four children; Reginald, Jeffery, Michael, and Pamela. Following his service to the country, Reggie worked at New London Mills then Pfizer for 24 years, retiring in 1991 as a quality control supervisor.

Reginald or "Pop" as his family called him, was happiest with a Red Sox game on the television and a backyard full of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pop found joy in the simple things in life; candy, old western movies, and gardening. A devout Catholic, he was a long-time parishioner of St. Mary Church in Groton.

Reginald is survived by his wife, Lucille; his children, Reginald and his wife, Wanda, Jeffery and his partner, Paul, Pamela Champlin and her husband, Vincent, and daughter-in-law, Lisa; his grandchildren, Kim and Tim Paul, Jason Teague, Aaron and Wendy Teague, MaryBeth and Nick Franco, Melissa and Sean Donovan, Matthew and Rachel Lamb, and Mikala Teague; and his great-grandchildren, Ethan, Veronika, Thomas, Julia, Karissa, Kyler, Addison, Nathaniel, Isabella, and Teagen.

Reginald is predeceased by both parents; his siblings; and a son, Michael.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at St. Mary Church of the Redeemer, 69 Groton Long Point Road, Groton.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Mary Church.
