Not sure what to say?

Suddenly it is 11 years later. On this anniversary, I catch myself joyful of the mark that Agass left -- on our paintings, yes, but on Julian as he makes his dad proud (as I'm sure does Joel, whom I don't know). I feel fortunate to have visual reminders of that good man (and the marks he left, on canvas and his family).

Time passes too quickly, for the best things -- but one joy (among many) of a painting is often the memories it will call to mind -- about acquisition, about research, about framing, and if we're fortunate about a sympathetic conservator's hand. It's easy for Agass to come freshly again to my mind and memory, and I'm hugely grateful for all those occasions of time with him in the studio, and now paintings on which he'd worked (some just cleaned, some with major labor). My deepest condolences to the Baumgartner family.
Your husband beautifully restored several 19th century paintings for me. He was without a doubt one of the loveliest and finest men I've ever met.
He will be greatly missed.

Dear Baumgartner Family:

We are very sorry to hear of your loss. Agass was so colorful and full of life. It is a true pleasure to know him and live with his outstanding craftsmanship that he and Julian did for our family that allows us to enjoy lifes' fine art for generations more to come. Agass was so enjoyable to work with and represents all the is good in life.

Peace,
The Spillane Family

Agass was a wonderful, cheerful man and a remarkably talented conservator. He always had time for us small collectors / enthusiasts; he was eager to talk about the art, the physical facts of a piece, historical clues/evidence, even the artist; he was an educator in his own way; but above all he was a gentleman artist himself, who honored the labor of artisans long gone by attending to their canvases. The many, many pieces he worked to restore and conserve will remain a lasting memorial to...

To the Family:
The Frier family has been a client for years. I got to know Gus and Julian well. I even saw Julian this morning. All the paintings in our house have been restored by Gus and Julian. My father passed away a year ago--words cannot tell the story. John Frier
